This is a picture of kids (mostly twins) who are about to be experimented on by Josef Mengele
Facts About The Holocaust: - The Nazis killed approximately two-thirds of all Jews living in Europe. - An estimated 1.1 million children were murdered in the Holocaust. - After World War II began in 1939, the Nazis began ordering Jews to wear a yellow star of david on their clothing so that Jews could be easily recognized and targeted. - After the beginning of World War II, Nazis began ordering all Jews to live within certain, very specific, areas of big cities, called ghettos. - Jews were forced out of their homes, and moved into apartments, often shared with other families. - Some ghettoes began as "open" which meant that Jews could leave the area during the daytime but often had to be back within the ghetto by curfew, however, later, all ghettos became "closed" which meant that Jews were trapped within the confines of the ghetto and not allowed to leave. The largest ghetto was in Warsaw, with its highest population reaching about 445,000 in March 1945. Nazis would order deportations from the ghettos. In some of the large ghettos, 1000 people per day were loaded up in trains and sent to either a concentration camp or a death camp. What I learned by watching Safe Haven: the Warsaw Zoo I learned almost evrything about the Holocaust from watching Safe Haven The Warsaw Zoo. - The Nzis hated anyone who did not have blond hair and blue eyes. - The War in Poland began on September 1, 1939. - Germans would not give any adults milk. - To the Nazis, adults meant anyone over 6 months. - Nazis gave people food, but then made them pay for it. - Smaller children would try to sneak food, but if caught, would be shot on sight. Why is the Paper Clip a symbol of the Holocaust? The Paper clip is a symbol of the Holocaust because Norwegians wore paper clips on their clothing as a sign of peace and resistence against thewar and the Nazis. My feelings about the Holocaust I feel that the holocaust was one of the worst events in the world. It is hard for me to beleive that someone can have so much hatred and kill millions of innocent people. I also believe that everyone should be allowed to believe in anything and not have a consequence afterwards. Survivor Story One: Eva Mozes Kur Eva Mozes Kur is a survivor of the Holocaust who, with her sister Mariam, subjected to a human experiment under Josef Mengele in Auswitch. Unfortanately, both of her sisters and parents were killed at the camp, however Eva and her sister Mariam survived. Before the war, when Eva was living peacefully with her family, her father had heard "rumors" that Jews were being treated awfully and that a war was beginning. Eva's mother did not believe these awful storys but her father did. He wanted to move somewhere safe. Eva's mother refused. Months later Eva's nightmares about the rumors came true. They tried to escape, but were caught and herded to a concentration camp. Her mother was ill, with an awful disease and killed in the gas chambers because Nazis did not think she was strong enough to work. Eva's entire family died in the death camps except she and her sister Mariam.
This is a picture of Jews being herded of to their barraks. ( Eva and Mariam in front)
Survivor Story Two: Anne Frank Anne Frank is one of the most discussed jewish victims of the Holocaust. She was born on June 12, 1929. She grew up in Amsterdam while wold war two was taking place. Since her family was jewish she and her family avoided the nazis as much as possible. She also began a diary while hiding from the nazis about what her life was like. The nazis found Anne and her family two years after they were hiding. They were transported to concentration camps where Anne and her sister both died of Typhus a couple of months later. Later in life, Otto Frank went back to Amsterdam after the war had finished, and found that his daughter Anne's diary had been saved, and thanks to his efforts it became published in 1947. It was translated from it's original Dutch and first published in English in 1952 with the title of Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl. So if you haven't read it... READ IT!!!!!!!
